My home is octagonal, and this gnarly old log was found on a beach half buried in sand. You may notice a notch in it: that was already there when we found it. Someone before us had tried to figure out what kind of wood it is. Fir, probably, and over 150 years old, we counted the rings.
I love the interplay between the geometric and the organic.
Photographed handheld at the actual moment of solstice, this is only the second object movie I have ever made.
